I ask because I think reports are written, according to DC teachers, but they are still doing lots of tests, so maybe trying to establish levels? This is y5, by the way...

Probably varies from school to school. Ours always has a whole-school assessment period in May and I know dd's teacher wrote the reports in half term. We got them last week.

I've written reports and added teacher assessments for my Year 5's but I'm waiting for SATs results to be returned for my Year 6's!

Thanks... so, if teacher assessments are done, why would they be doing more tests? Poor kids...

We had our reports with levels and test results last week, but were told that the children are reassessed between now and the end of term. These levels aren't reported but if parents specifically want to know they can get the results.

My Y2 DD hasn't had her SATs results yet, they will be given to us separately in the next week or so.

Because my teacher assessments are done doesn't mean anyone else s are! As I have a mixed 5/6 class the 5's sit their tests in May at the same time as the 6's and the TA then adds any improvements between May and now. Many schools however leave tests and assessments as late as possible to enable maximum progress to be shown, your school may be one of them! Personally I can't think of anything worse that trying to write reports whilst marking test papers!!

That's really helpful, and clarifies matters spaniel! Thanks! Flowers

Our school does optional SATs in May and that's pretty much it for tests other than the weekly spelling/multiplication. I hear the reports are written but they won't be given out til near end of term. Due to complaints a couple of years' ago the reports are all checked by another member of staff which I suspect is time consuming. We're given the last week to discuss issues with teachers if last year is to go by.

After the teacher has written the reports ( ours take around 2 hours each to write!) they are then checked before being sent to the Head. The Head then has to write comments in every report. The admin staff have to produce attendance reports for everyone, the children write their own section to go in the report ( which takes forever!) They then all have to be printed and photocopied.
Producing reports is a long and involved jobGrin

If I was at work some components of the reports would be finished - the wordy bits will all be done saying what their like and targets to continue to work on etc
The levels would be being done now after assessments last week - this includes optional sats and teacher levels
Anything still ongoing in school may be reported to next class teacher in school - however I don't think there are more assessments this year (I'm on mat leave)

Ditto the head reading and commenting
We also have a target sheet to fill in as well so 3 teacher components

DD and DS did assessments today, reports are out next week.
