Suspected mistake on report

We got dd's report last week and were very pleased with it overall, but suspect a mistake in one of the reported NC levels.

According to the report, she has "achieved" or "exceeded" all of her targets in this subject, but for some reason, her NC level appears to be one sub-level below where she finished last year. It's also lower than any of her other subjects, including the one where we think dd is probably the weakest. I'm therefore assuming it's probably just a typo, but not sure whether to say anything or just leave it?

It's a relatively "minor" subject and dd isn't remotely bothered about it, so I am tempted to just leave it. I don't think it really matters anyway, and it feels like nitpicking given the context of a report that we are really happy with. DH, on the other hand, feels that we should query it, if only to set the record straight. Surely most people would just let it go, wouldn't they?

Are you sure you have understood the levels correctly? I.e. 4a is higher than 4b?

( sorry if silly question but not an uncommon error!)

Jinsei · 30/06/2013 17:01

Thanks Tree, but yes, I do understand how the levels work and she has definitely gone "backwards"! Grin

If it was for one of the core subjects, I would definitely query it, but given that it isn't, I am not really concerned. DH isn't really worried either, but thinks we should correct it "as a matter of principle". My own view is that the teachers probably spend hours doing the reports, and I'd rather not make a fuss about small details when we're really happy with it overall.

I also would ask. Not make a fuss, but a quick check.
If it is wrong on the report, then info to next teacher may also be wrong too, which could cause a problem of low expectations.

Jinsei · 30/06/2013 20:44

Oh really? Perhaps I ought to check then, though I feel a bit embarrassed to do so! Blush

I would check.

Tiggles · 30/06/2013 20:52

I would check - DSs age (genuinely) went backwards this year.

Jinsei · 30/06/2013 20:56

OK, will check. I get that children do go backwards sometimes but seems unlikely that they would be achieving/exceeding all targets if that were the case.

I would check. If only that last years score may have been too high, this years may be wrong or she may genuinely need support in the subject. Although the acheiving/exceeding would lead me to think it's a mistake.

My DS teacher wrote "X needs to concentrate more in literacy". She spelt X (DS's name) wrong Grin

youarewinning · 30/06/2013 21:01

I would imagine it's the number that's wrong. EG she was a 2b and is now a 3c and they wrote 2c? (substitute for whats actually written!)

Tiggles · 30/06/2013 21:04

D'oh that should say reading age went backwards, not his chronological age! Although it is still ahead of where it should be...

Jinsei · 30/06/2013 21:07

Grin Wish my chronological age would start going backwards!

Youarewinning, that makes sense re the number being wrong. I will ask.

Ds entire y8 report shows him making 2 sublevels decline from March to May this year. I just laughed. Don't believe any of it, anyway.
