I messed up. Is DD's teacher going to hate us from the start?!

DH says I'm being daft but I am so annoyed at myself, basically I missed the 'meet next year teacher' meeting yesterday. The ridiculous thing is I even looked at my phone as I had an inkling it was that day but missed the relevant message. I wasn't well so my dad did school run but I should've phoned to rearrange.

It would be fine if it was a current teacher as they know about my health issues (although I'd still be embarrassed) but ARGH! Way to make a good first impression eh Hmm :(

Stop stressing. U won't be the only one who did not go and the teacher will not mind a jot. If it will make u feel better, either write a quick note explaining or pop in when u better and explain. I am a busy mum who is also a teacher and I have to confess I would not even remember who did or didn't come. Smile

Thanks, I do worry a lot over silly things.

DH did explain to current teacher this morning and they are going to rearrange (awkward as the new teacher is not actually working at this school til sept) so will apologise in person then!

Don't worry about it - things happen. I arranged the home visit last year at the parents meeting in July, then over the summer holiday I was invited to go to a once in a lifetime thing and would have missed the home visit in september. Of course I couldn't tell them, even though I had known since the end of July, because it was the holidays so there I was, first day of term trying to rearrange a meeting with just a few days notice, I was sure the teacher would hate me for being a pain/disorganised/more interested in my once in a lifetime thing than my daughter's education and so on but she has been lovely all year.

I missed the whole new parent thing as they sent a letter via snail mail and it never arrived.

Had no idea until they rang me to find out why I didn't turn up!

No-one seemed very worried and they've booked us in for a 1-2-1.

The teacher will have barely noticed, never mind actually care. They'll have been far too busy with the parents who did turn up to be bothered by any who don't.

ipadquietly · 28/06/2013 19:50

Why don't you ring up the school and ask if you can have ten mins with the teacher to find out what you missed? I'm sure they wouldn't mind.

fuzzpig · 28/06/2013 19:52

it was individual meetings BTW! As in, DH had booked a slot at 3.10. Like parents evening.

hopefully we will have another opportunity.

Just phone them up to arrange one - I'm sure they'll be fine. Don't worry about it! Grin
