primary - shall I move to e closed to the school where we are on a waiting list?

DD has got a place in a school which is 2 miles away and opposite of direction where I go to to work, so very inconvenient. Plus have younger DD, so life is going to be complicated if in the future need to get both of them to that school. There is another school near our home ( good school) - I am on a waiting list and no 1 ( 60 places). Or one more outstanding school en route to my work ( no 3 on a waiting list, 90 reception places). I sort felt so passionate about that outstanding school - as I came into the school, I felt so strongly that I would like this to be place for my DD... Would it be wise to consider moving closer to outstanding school to be no 1 on a waiting list and then younger DD would also have a chance to get it. there is no sibling policy, so even if my older DD gets in, we would still need to move address if I wanted younger to get in. On the other hand, there is a good school 5 min walk from my present house, where I am no 1 on a waiting list - but I am not that thrilled about it...is it just feelings? please help me with my mixed feelings.

Assuming this is for September you've left it rather late . iirc you've posted before about having a second address to get into a particular school , is this the same scenario? It is possible to be admitted from no.3 but before you move you may want to be very clear just how close to get to no.1 and even then risk no place coming up. Your best bet is to see if the local school comes up with a place before Sept, stay on waiting list for one nearer work in case a place comes up before dd2 is due to start then review. Outstanding doesn't always mean best for your child .

Moving is a big upheaval, and there is no guarantee there will be movement on the waiting list, even if you do move higher up it, in time for September.

As this needs to be a permanent move, if you want your DCs at the same school, I'd take the time to really look for the property where you want to spend the next few years. If that's nearer a school you prefer, then that's great. But a precipitate move, when there is no guarantee it'll make much difference to your time on the waiting list, is unlikely to improve life.

Ok, will thin again - will wait till Septmber if my local school pace comes up and then review it again...
