Moving in 2 weeks what will happen to schools?

We were given notice to move from our current house and the only suitable house we could find in the timeframe was in a different town, about 45 mins bus ride from the current school.

We are signing the contract next week and will be moving the week after. We have 5 children the oldest year 3, then aged 6, year 1 a 4 year old who is starting reception in September and a nearly 3 year old who was supposed to start the school nursery in September.

The two oldest will have to finish the year year at a new school. Do I need to phone the schools to find if they have two places? I am in a stress about my dd starting reception as she has no place there - what will happen?

There is one school near the new house , then there's another 2 within 3 miles . His likely is it that the children could end up spread among them all- I gave no car do that's going to be a bit of a nightmare . Any experiences? Especially of moving after the reception cut off.

It is possible that not only will your children be at two different schools, you could be sent even further if there are no spaces at the three closest schools.

I would ring up the Admissions team at the local council right now to ask for advice - specifically, whether there are any spaces in the years your DC need in any of the three closest schools.

You needs facts before you sign the lease as your children could easily be a different schools. The reception dc will be the tricky one I reckon.

We have no choice but to sign the lease or we will be homeless. I am going to call the admissions now just found the number online.

Ok that was a very quick resolution of my problem Grin.
Spoke to the admission place who said almost certainly I would get places at any school as NONE of the schools in that area are full (unlike where we are now where they are all full!). So then I called the actual school i wanted (across the road from the new house) and they said that the older two can start anytime they want once we have proof of adress etc as they have places in both years AND they also have places in reception next year AND the nursery!.

I feel as though I just won the lottery!
