I have just seen this mentioned in another thread so had a look at my dd's school and was surprised as even though the key stage 1 results were good the key stage 2 results had dropped quite a lot.

DD1 is in Yr 2 and DD2 in Yr 1 should I be concerned that results are going down?

I'd be concerned if it was consistently falling, but it could just be be a rogue year group I suppose!

Dashboard is of limited use I think. Tells you little about that years cohort or context of results. Good to look at as can raise questions to ask school. However, blunt instrument which does need context to be meaningful.

Anybody know when this years Sats results kick in?

FadedSapphire · 14/06/2013 18:04

First part of July?

sittinginthesun · 14/06/2013 18:07

Think Sats due back first week in July. The dashboard has only limited use, really.

Thanks for the replies I think I will mention it to teacher when next speaking but I won't be overly worried

League tables are published the following December, so I would be surprised if the dashboard was updated much before then.

FadedSapphire · 14/06/2013 19:30

And league tables should be treated with caution too....

The dashboard results should also be looked at in the context of the number of SEN (statemented and not) on role. You can compare to the schools value added score which looks at their starting points, available on education.gov.uk
Schools with higher numbers of FSM with good sats results are generally working harder than those with an easier intake.
Schools with lots of level 4s should also have plenty of kids achieving level 5s to show they aren't just pushing for average.
Education.gov.uk will also show you what percentage of high / middle / low attainers achieved the expected level. This will tell you whether the school is 'failing' pupils or not.
