Just that really, ours seem to be a lot of catching games, which DS seems a bit bored with

Why not just pop in and ask?

My dc went on the big apparatus for the first time this week. A very exciting lesson! They always do pe indoors, think mainly dance, gym and throw/catch stuff

I teach PE and our Reception children have 3 lessons a week. 1 lesson is based around core skills such as agility/coordination/speed/strength etc. 1 is gym/dance and the 3rd is ball skills/games. They also get swimming once a week in the Summer Term.

They have just got a new climbing frame in the playground so they have used that in lessons.

They seem to play lots of games (traffic lights is one DD mentioned). They also walk like animals ie slither on the floor like a snake, stomp around trumpeting like an elephant, hop like bunnies etc...

First half-term: Getting undressed and dressed again.

Second half-term: Ball games, throwing, catching.

Third half-term: "Gymnastics" apparently Grin

Fourth half-term: Cross country - Running round the field and being outside

Summer term: "Athletics" - lots of running, throwing and stuff outside from what I can gather!

They seem to be doing a lot of athletics this term, getting ready for sports day- they seem to do a good mix, lots of indoor and outdoor games aswell as dance and gym. They play ' French beans, runner beans etc a lot!

Oh yes bean that reminds me of the reception class I volunteer in back in sept.

The teacher used a timer to help the kids get ready for PE in 5 minutes and when the timer went off after 5 mins a good 50% of the class were in a state of undress and they all burst into tears as they were not ready. Needless to say, the timer was not used again Smile

They do music and movement one day a week, which involves dancing to the music the pianist plays. The other day they play "games" like Traffic Lights, The Bean Game etc which he loves. (They do similar as warm up games at his gym club) He also does a lunchtime multiskills club that "uses different stuff every week" according to him. Last week was parachute games. This week it was bat and balls.

I would ask, but already been in a couple of times recently and really don't want to be a nuisance!

As a teacher I wouldn't mind you asking- as long as you didn't choose a busy moment.
