Testing

if your primary child had a week of assessments and was taken from her class into another group to do a test would you expect to be informed by the school that they were not being tested with the usual class? If they had sat a test on one day with their normal class and then the next day be taken again into another group and told to do the same test again would you expect some kind of communication from the school?

I would wonder what the school thought to achieve by giving the test twice... pointless

Maybe it's for the benefit of some adults who are practicing supervising tests.

I'm assuming you are joking learnandsay

I would ask whether your dd completed the first test or whether they didn't and were allowed to do it again. I would also be asking the school to clarify (are you sure it was exactly the same test). Ds did school tests recently and said he only did 3 papers. Not correct at all as he'd actually done 4.

She has an auditory delay, so they have given her xtra time for tests. But rather than getting all the children who are given xtra time together and doing the test as one group, it seems that first they made them do the test with the usual class. Then called her back during another lesson to check her paper, then she did one test with her class and then the following day was told to do it again but with the other group. Exactly the same test...... They say that they have binned her first test and never marked it. If they had communicated their plans I would have been fine with it, but it has left dd very confused and anxious as she thinks the has failed... Very badly managed unfortunately.

If schools are using the optional tests there is normally a maths test and a reading test but doing the same one twice will skew results making them worthless ... and in the process upsetting your child.

This isn't a communication problem between school and you.

This a school doing something dumb.

So, no I would not expect school to communicate this with you.

I agree, complete and utter fools!
