I am thinking of offering to set up an after school club to run a school magazine at my children's primary school. I edited a student paper and used to be a press officer so think it would be something I could do and enjoy. The children are aged 3-11 and I envisage the older ones would be most involved but little ones could do drawings etc. I think more than one a term would be too ambitious but hope that we could achieve a termly edition. Anyone have children at a school that does this or runs one themselves? How are the 'staff' (children) organised and was it a success. Did you have PTA funding for a print run or use school printer/photocopier or manage to persuade a local printers to do it for free / via local advertising etc. I have ideas for articles by the children - although only to get them thinking of their own ideas - and thought of a competition, puzzle page, reporting on top events of that term, interviewing local celebrity/author/MP/fireman/zookeeper/head teacher etc plus opinion pieces, nature watch page, book/TV/film/games reviews.
Any one there who can give me an idea of cost or how they have done it for next to nothing? Have ideas but always good to know what other people have achieved. Thanks!
