Good school on the doorstep 5min walk VS AMAZING almost perfect school 10min drive away

The local one is fab in terms of acemdemic achievements within our village but has limitations due to size but is on the doorstep meaning we can always walk.

The other school is near perfect, we love it but it would mean driving everyday.

Your heart is in the one that's a drive away isn't it? Ten minutes drive is nothing and if you go to the village one, from the sounds of it you will always be wondering if the other one is better.

So my vote is the 10 minutes away school. Lots of people will be along soon to say stick with the village school as dc's will have local friends though.

I personally would pick the closest. nothing to do with the schools more about the community experience. I think it is lovely for children to have friends in their local area. you wont have to dive to and from play dates and you might meet a parent very close to home who you can share dropping off and picking up when you need to.

10 minutes a day may not sound much but bear in mind you will be doing it twice a day, five days a week, 38 weeks a year for at least 7 years (assuming you're talking primary school). It all adds up.

I think my heart is with the village school for community, walking, supporting them etc. With have a good network of friends that we will still keep if we dont use the school though.

My head says the other school will provide a more rounded education with lots of exciting lessons.

But we love walking, being outdoors etc.

It would be commiting to eleven more years of driving as we have two at school two more still at home!

I'd go with the local school. Having their friends around after school and during weekends will be great for them and you may need the flexibility of asking friends to take DC to school for you if you're ill etc.

I would go with the school 10 minutes away, the opportunities are more important than having everyone on your doorstep. And it is only 10 minutes

Thanks, one issue with the local one is it is tiny so yes there are local friends...but not many. Lots more friendship oppotunities at the other school...but i can get past the driving part!
