ADHD in the classroom

Hi there
Could any teachers who have had children with diagnosed or suspected ADHD take a moment to tell me what sort of things they observed in terms of how the child behaved/learned etc in the classroom.
I have concerns about my DS (year 3), but he doesn't act quite the same at home as at school, although school do have concerns.
Any experiences really welcomed Smile

I don't think there is a simple answer because it is different for every child.
In my experience ADHD children are often fidgety beyond normal for the age, often impulsive, often make careless mistakes because they don't pay close attention, don't seem to listen, don't follow instructions, don't complete work, are disorganised, lose equipment needed for the task, find it hard to concentrate on some tasks but can focus on that computer game or Lego model, often are forgetful.

Thanks mrz. I guess what you describe are fairly common behaviours for 7/8 year old boys. I know it is difficult to say, but I suppose what I would like to know is when do you start to think 'this is more than normal' iyswim?

Just bumping this in hope of any more views. I am really interested in knowing about children who are inconsistent in their display of adhd-type behaviours Smile
