Crouch End Primary Decision (Coleridge v St Peter-in-Chains) for SEN SLI ds-HELP!

Hi all. I'm new to posting so please forgive me if too rambly!
Got a last minute decision to make tonight-which infant school do we list as our first choice for son who was diagnosed over Christmas with SLI (specific language impairment)? Not statemented as yet (if ever) but SALT has described it as "moderate". Basically, he was a late talker and this was put down to very bad glue ear from age of 9mths to 2 years at which stage he had grommets inserted. They worked their wonders and he fairly quickly began talking. He is now 4yrs 4mths and talks amazingly well considering the late start, but still not as well as his peers. The main issue we now understand is to do with auditory processing. He is really outgoing, very active and quite a "busy" boy, but withdraws sometimes from organised group activity. Possibly because he doesn't follow at the same rate. With help he should be up to speed by age 7 apparently?
My dialemma....nursery think St Peters (catholic) might be better as calmer, smaller and more traditional, but I see a different side to him at home than they do. Would it be too strict/ academic for him? My worry about Coleridge-is it too big/hectic for him? Both "outstanding" schools. My main concern is for him to be happy (and learn something!) Agghhh.
ANY views/experience on either school would be much appreciated even at this very late stage.
Many thanks!

You should also look at Ashmount if you are concerned about size as it is a two form entry school. Would give you a basis for comparison with St Peters.

I think if I had to choose I would choose Coleridge without a doubt! I went there and know friends with kids there now. It is a fantastic school and give children a lot of confidence with they will take with them for the rest of their lives. You are right St Peters is very good but it is much more rigid and controlling. I think being is a noisy and creative school such as Coleridge will be brilliant for your son and they have great support resources too.

Go for it!

Thanks for both answers! nlondondad ...Yes have considered Ashmount as an alternative for option 3/4 but don't really know too much about it other than the new site looks good and much improved performance. Crouchendmumoftwo..thanks. Yes love the look and feel of Coleridge, I'm just concerned the noise levels may be an issue for my son (with the auditory processing thing). For example his concentration levels are better in a quieter environment. On the other hand, St Peters may be too calm and academic. He might absorb more there but not enjoy the atmosphere. Despite sometimes withdrawing from organised "fun" (or at least not paying attention) he is the first to be "silly" and dance around with his friends. Also VERY agile/sporty so prob more opportunity at Coleridge from what I've heard. Then again everyone tells me they are now fighting for space in the playground! Oh who knows.....might end up flipping a coin tonight.
Thanks!
