I am looking to put together a list of useful educational websites and apps for Reception aged children. Any one got any useful ones?
Our two favourites are www.poissonrouge.com/songs/ and also the Hairy letters app for iphone.

Maths 3-5 by eurotalk is fantastic for all aspects of numeracy. PuppetPals is a simple app (make sure you get the directors chair one, not the free one) which children can use to make simple puppet shows - great for their story telling skills. Busythings shape up is good for shape recognition.

Pocket Phonics is good for practising letter formation and recognition.

Have a look at A Green Mouse online. The songs, and maybe a video called 'Counting to ten in Spanish with monkey' (which is free and also in French) are probably the best starting point for this age group but there is a lot of other material on the site.

Oooo, could you post the list to me? DS is learning to read but nursery 'aren't doing that' so I'm supporting him at home. He wants to, he asks to do it. We only use the cbeebies and club penguin sites. He's outgrown the channel 5 milkshake site already. He LOVES being online so anything that's a play and learn site I would be grateful for.

Hi, no need for a link, just type A Green Mouse into Google and the website and blog come up straight away - it's also on the TES online website but you have to register there so just look up A Green Mouse. It's very well set out so you should find the counting video easily. I've just read in The Times 2 section about how stories and pictures can help with learning things and that's just what A Green Mouse is doing, and you get the words aloud as well.

oops, sorry - I thought you'd asked for the 'link' not 'list'! I hope my blurb was helpful anyway!

Great! Keep them coming!
