Best primary schools - where and which ones?

My husband and I moved to the UK 3-4 years ago. Our daughter is about 3 years now. We cant afford private education but would like the best education the state can provide both primary and grammar school (if possible, later on).

Which places should we consider for relocation? Our situation is:

  1. I work in Liverpool Street and husband works in Canary Wharf. We would like to keep the travel time to less than 1 hour (max).
  1. We would like to buy a 3/4 bed house. Our budget is about 450-500K. We can cut down on number of rooms - our most important consideration is that the place should have the best primary schools and grammar schools.
  1. We can move basically anywhere in Greater London to get to the best primary schools.

Any suggestions where we should move? which primary schools to consider?

Thank you for reading my post.

Apologies, I know this topic has been discussed so many time. But I was hoping to be very specific with my situation and see what you can suggest. Thanks.

The london borough of Bromley has some excellent primary and secondary schools, though only two super-selective grammar schools. The schools are very over-subscribed.

With those work destinations, I would have thought Essex would be a good starting point. Hopefully someone in the know can give info on where the best schools are. I'm not so up on the East.

Do you definitely want an area with grammar schools or are good non-selective secondaries okay with you too? Because I think for grammars you'd have to move to Kent and I know lots of people on here aren't happy with that system. Likewise the super-selectives in Greater London (Tiffins, Wilsons etc) aren't a safe bet in terms of getting a place, so you might be as well with a normal, nice secondary.

Hello my husband and I also work in the city and canary wharf. We moved from London to Shenfield near Brentwood Essex for the reason we would both have short commutes and the schools are good. Local primary and comprehensive schools are great and the excellent Chelmsford grammars are a few miles away though it is mega hard to get in and the admissions rules have recently changed I think so not sure if we are still in the catchment area. You should be able to find a property round here in your budget I think...
