2 children at different schools, would you?

Bloody bollocks have had a bit of a re-think on school applications.
DS due to start Reception in Sept.
DD currently year 2 at school we have put as first choice. She is happy there and making progress I am happy with.
There is a brand new school going to be opening near us which we will probably get a place at, to be run by a locally outstanding primary school so should be a very good one.
DD school is OK, but trundling along at satisfactory on OFSTED.
DD has got 2 more years there as is only a lower school.
Am seriously considering DS starting at the new school as he would be there for 5 years all in all, the only overlap would be 2 years.
Is is viable to do 2 schools in opposite directions? I guess we would need to alternate them between before and after school care to allow for pick up and drop off of the other one.
Have also considered moving DD (as they will be accepting elder siblings) but she is settled and happy and not sure if that is very fair on her.
Would like DS to go to the new one as I am not too convinced that DD school is improving and he is a bright boy and it is the brighter boys who seem to progress less well at DD's school.
Would love to know what other people reckon - have to finalise admissions be Tuesday - aargh!

I think you should go for it. Benefits outweigh negatives. I also think you'll find plenty of dds's friends start to move over pretty soon, and she wouldn't be the only one if you did decide to do this in the future.

I do it right now. They are at schools which suit them so I'm happy to do it. Logistically it can be a bit of a challenge but luckily I know lots of people who do the same as me so help with lift sharing.

I do it right now too. It is a logistical nightmare challenge twice a day but it is worth it as each DC is happy and settled in their respective schools (they used to attend the same school but DS has SN and the school couldn't cope). DS is 8 and will start walking/cycling to school on his own in the next year, which will make things easier too.

Another vote for doing what is right for your child. We are in the same boat, 2.5 years to go before eldest goes to secondary.
