Hi, my child's teacher has informed me that she's working at lower level 3 in her subjects in class, is this deemed to be good or bad? Thanks!

It's good :)

This is good - the expected level of progress by end of year 2 is level 2 - so if she is already at level 3 then that is a comment to say she is doing well. She will then be expected to make 2 levels of progress in KS2 so if she goes in to year 3 as a 3 then she would be expected to be a level 5 when finishing year 6.

I am surprised you are not aware this is good.....

So teacher means sats level then! Thanks very much for quick replies!

No the teacher means National Curriculum levels

bagism · 07/12/2012 19:13

Ok, thankyou. So not sats. I'm confused (as you can probably tell) by the information i receive regarding my daughters progress and didn't think that sats would be mentioned yet as she is just in year 2, what's the difference between national curriculum level and sats level?

"SATs" are the assessments at the end of KS1 & KS2

SunflowersSmile · 07/12/2012 19:35

I assume that if working Nc level 3 maybe quite likely she will achieve level three in teacher assessed ks1 SATs at end of year 2.
Ask teacher if you are confused and want to know.
