Dressing up ideas - the 1970's

So ds1 needs to find some clothes for dressing up in the 1970's. Any ideas of what I could do?

Teacher talked about flared up trousers (don't have anything like this). I was thinking about big sunglasses, a wig, white Tshirt, a necklace of some sort.
Any other (cheap!) ideas?

There was a whole thread about "what people wore in the 70s" a week or 2 back. It's dropped out of my 'Threads I'm on' so I can't link, but you might want to do a search ?

Cheesecloth shirts or dresses. Denim waistcoats, platform shoes, gingham scarves on head. Corduroy, leather jackets, medallions, starsky cardis. Donny Osmond caps ....
Yes, I was there Blush

Hair was mainly Afros.

Early seventies, hippie?

Or late seventies /? Punk.

Thanks for the idea re the jeans. I am sure I can find an old pair of jeans somewhere.
Waistcoats can prob find that at a charity shop too.
Hairband from some piece of material will be OK too.

No special requirements re seventies hippies or punk. Just seventies.

you could just get a big thick pair of black horn-rimmed glasses and stick a bit of sideburn on him.... tuck his shirt into the waistband of his too tight slightly flared nylon trousers... think hipster, without the irony.
