Our PTA obviously has less money than some of yours.

Our leavers get a white t-shirt with small school logo on front and leavers 2013 plus names printed on the back in school colours.

(Mind you, I like the memory stick idea, might suggest that, though perhaps too pricey)

Hooded sweatshirts (or zip up's) with name of primary "leavers" and the year on the back with all class names inside the year number. Children love them! dd2 who is in year 8 still wears hers at times.. Additionally the year 6 may wear theirs instead of a sweatshirt / cardigan from when they arrive (we hope today or Monday) that sets them out as the " big kids" so it is a HUGE deal. This is by the PTA

School gives them a bible (C of E)

We well actually I make a year book A4 folded into A5 with the name of the school and the year on the front surrounded by individual pictures of the kids, then two children per page with a photo at the top and space underneath for them to write in each others book. There are usually a few pages spare at the back for messages from friends in other years and from staff. Some whole class group pictures are usually added on the back. We used to do a framed class photo with all the names underneath but the year book has been much more popular and avoids having to wrap them - it's printed in school on the laser printer so has minimal cost to anyone. The class teacher gets the kids to take each others' photos during SATs week so that we have the best chance of not missing anyone and that gives me plenty of time to put the books together before the end of term.

My Y6 DS will be getting a Yearbook and Hooded top with names and year on it. These were optional and parents had to pay for them.

They are also having a leaver's party organised by the teachers in July.

Can't believe he's starting Secondary in September!

Ours get a bible from the church and something from the PTA to use at high school thats useful rather than a keepsake thats not used again.

Yearbooks can be very tricky if there are any chidlren whose photos should not be shared for any reason.

My DC's school and where I teach both give Oxford dictionaries to their yr 6 leavers.

The CD of photos from the leavers' disco was included in the ticket price for that event.

Blush I can spell children!

Our school did nothing either which has really shocked me. DD has been there for 7 years and the school gave them nothing. The 'special assembly' had been made out before hand to be really emotional but there was not one ounce of emotion or feeling. Left most of us parents feeling flat. The local Roundtable came and handed out a calculator and dictionary....school nothing..not even a certificate. The assembly turned into a prize given for about 11 children (out of 60 ) (can you tell I am really shocked!) all this given that myself and my husband run a small media company specialising in memory slideshows.

I helped organise the School leavers disco but this was done through ticket sales to the parents although the school did let is use the school hall and also again we were given the option to purchase an autograph book which the PTA purchased (I am on the PTA) and a small profit was made!!!!

Sad really as some of the schools on here have given a nice, thoughtful goodbye and goodluck and made it special for their pupils.

The year 6 children get
an autograph book and pen ( from the PTFA)
toiletries ( from the PTFA)
a Bible ( church school)
a disc with memories of the year on ( from the school)
a disco ( free entry, food and drinks from the PTFA)
a small present ( from me)
a leavers service ( from the school!) tears come free!
and the option to buy a hoodie with their names on ( subsidised by the PTFA but paid for by their parents)

KingscoteStaff · 26/07/2013 18:04

Our Year 6 get...
Massive subsidy of their PGL school journey (School pay)

Dd left y6 this summer.

They had leavers hoodies with names on back.

In ICT they made their own year book. Made pages for each child and other stuff. It's great and full of photos and memories and unites from pupils and teachers about each other. As thy did themselves it is very personal.

In woodwork they each made a side table too and all those were leavers type things. They chose their designs. Dd's is school colours and has thumb prints and names of class mates and staff.

They also did a photoshoot on afternoon after leaving at boon. Small class so easily organised. Cost £13 a head and they got a cd each of about 60 copyright images.

I work in an infant school so our leavers are y2. I put together a DVD off every photo taken over the year of the three classes. Sold it at school for £5. Many parents bought a copy. Had lots of photos of all the big events - trips, end of year show, sports day, etc plus general photos from in class.
