At what point would you get a Doctor's note for 11+?

DS1 is meant to be sitting his 11+ TOMORROW. He has woken up with a sore throat and a croaky voice.

If I want him to sit the alternative sitting, I need to get a Doctor's note and contact about a million people today.

I personally don't think he is even well enough for school today. Which to my mind says he won't be well enough for the test tomorrow. But the alternative test is on a day I will find it really hard to get childcare for the other 3 DC's for.

AAAAARRRRGGGHHH! Why does he have to get ill TODAY?!

Should I accept he has to sit the alternative sitting and get a sick note from my GP? That's going to be a mission and a half, trying to explain to them that he needs to be seen TODAY.

Heeelllpppp!

In my experience trying to get a sick note from a GP for a child is next to impossible. So it might be as well to find out if they will give you one even if you do manage to get an appointment.

I'd go for the alternative test even though it a PITA.

does your surgery have emergency appointments?

The 11 plus is quite stressful, I'm sure it would be better for him to do it when he is feeling better.

It's more getting an appointment that will be hard, round here with just a superselective Grammar, GP's are well used to having to write a sick note for the 11+, as you can't sit the alternative test without one.

God, I'm going to have to brave the Receptionist and insist on an appointment today. Urgh.

Can't even ring till 8.30am!

Be the first on the phone at 8:30, beg, explain, plead, whatever it takes!

Good luck.

Plus even their Primary school insist on sick notes for children who will be absent for more than 3 days.

Sorted for the doctors note. He has an upper respiratory tract infection and a throat infection. Bleurgh. He feels rotten, and will be sitting the test in 2 weeks time on the alternative date.

I have to phone the Grammar school in the morning to let them know that he won't be attending, then call the CSSE on Monday to ask for them to put him in for the alternative test date.

He is disappointed, but knows that he won't perform his best in the test if he feels this rotten.
