My ds started school last week he is 4 and will not be 5 until May next year so would not have to have started till next year. He did not get into the school we wanted and have since moved house and are practically next door to a better school. I have applied for an in year transfer and as yet heard nothing.

Does anyone know if I am able to go through the admissions process next year for another school as that is when he has to start or if now he is in a school my only hope is an in year transfer?

Or obviously if there is anything else I can do to try and get him transfered into that school. I know the school goes through the council admissions so I know there is no hope going to the school as they don't get a say in the matter.

Advise would be amazing. Thanks

Re: starting the admissions process again, I would say 'no'. Your local authority will be looking to admit children who are 'rising five' next September. Your child will already be five, so can't be in that admissions round and already has a school place anyway.

If you are practically next door to the school, then its likely that you will be very close to the top of the list if a space does come up for an In-Year transfer. In my LA, your place on the list is not determined by how long you have been waiting but how closely you meet the admissions criteria.

My advice is to find out where you are on the waiting list by calling your LA and then sit and wait.
