West/North West London tips on primary schools needed please

Hi,

I live in W9 at the moment. It's going to be hard to afford the extra bedroom/s needed for the additional children that we wish to have, so we're thinking about where we should move next.

If anyone has any views on what areas (ideally West/North West London) are best for primary schools then I'd be very grateful for your input.

Thanks
G1nger

Could you convert a loft? This is my plan RE the stupid price of London!

There are some fantastic primaries in Ealing like Montpelier

Don't look for where has the best primaries - start by looking where has the best secondaries.

They're the thing that are really in short supply in certain parts of London.

I would agree with Indigo if you are planning to stay in London try to look for good secondaries. How far out are you prepared to move e.g. Zone3 or Zone 5. Do you need to be close to a particular tube line?

Juniper I could convert the 'loft' but I think the upstairs neighbours might have something to say about it ;)

Indigo something to think about. Thanks.

Chazs I think we're flexible on zones and lines, but do need to be a straightforward enough drive to Heathrow. Thanks.

It might be worth looking around Hillingdon - Ruislip, Pinner etc. There are some good Primary and Secondary schools there and you are the right side of London for Heathrow. You will have both tube lines and overground trains.

Otherwise Richmond, Twickenham, Teddington etc have some good primaries and secondaries but you will probably get less for your money than you would in Ruislip.

Yes for Heathrow try Uxbridge, Ickenham or Ruislip - depending on your budget.

Check exactly which road/area though in Uxbridge, Ickenham or Ruislip, as there are some "black holes" between good secondaries.

don't leave blessed W9, god's own postcode! I miss it... though I think you have to be properly catholic to get a decent primary education round there.
What about the other side of Heathrow to get South Bucks / Berks grammar schools?

Lots of Heathrow workers in Ealing- Secondaries are oddly distributed in the borough though so definitely worth looking around, lots good primaries in Hanwell/Northfields/North Ealing
