Could not believe my eyes - school parking today!

I was doing the school pick up this afternoon. Parking is obviously difficult in the immediate area etc. There was a small parking space which someone could have used with a smallish car - would have been a nice fit for a mini! However, an woman came along driving a large estate car and tried to back into the space. She hit the car behind with an audible bash. Instead of being horrified at what she had done, she backed into the car another 3 times. The second time she hit the car, she made an even louder bang! The space was clearly too small for her car and she was deliberately trying to push a parked car out of her way! There were a few people in the street, including me and this woman had absolutely no shame in what she had done. Her car was already marked in a few places (clearly she does this alot), but the car she hit was immaculate and quite new.

I was disgusted and think that she is a bit of a thug for abusing someone else's property like this. I took her registration plates and don't know if I should report to school or police. Or is this par for the course and I am overreacting?

Report to police - its terrible behaviour on that woman's part!

WofflingOn · 07/09/2012 20:10

Police if it was on the public road.
Of course it's not normal behaviour.

purplehouse · 07/09/2012 20:10

Yes, public road.

Did you leave a note for the owner of the car she hit?

MommyVan · 07/09/2012 20:10

Seriously?! One for the police, call your local station. I think she left the scene of an accident! Why can't people park a little further away and walk...

Friday - had no pen/paper. Took her plates by texting them to myself. The car that she hit will prob be there next week though as it's very likely a parent/teacher car.

Some parents seem to go a bit crazy when it comes to school parking. Our school is on a busy (at rush hour) high street. If you park on the zig zags you get a battering from the lollypop man! I love him Grin

I was discussing this with someone ages ago. They thought it was quite acceptable when parallel parking to just touch the bumper on the car in front and behind. I was Shock Although it sounds like that was more than a touch purple. Sad

People seem to leave all their sense behind when they get in the car to do the school run.
Glad you took her number plate.

The other day when I picked DS up, the lollipop lady was seeing us across the road, queue of traffic waiting...Some crazy lady overtook them! Then looked all suprised when she got up to the lollipop lady Confused
Wonder what she thought everyone was sitting around for?!

Just an aside...

Having done my first three school runs (no choice but to take the car) I am seriously considering a Smart car, preferably wrapped in bubble-wrap. I drive 25,000 miles a year and have never been as scared as I was in the school car park Grin.
