FFS Dd1 had just about wrecked her new school shoes already

Arghhhhhhh Angry

She came home yesterday having scratched the front of them and I told her she hadn't to drag her toes on the ground (it's not from walking iykwim) and today she's gone right through the top layer of it so there's almost a hole.

Is it too early for Wine yet?

It sounds like they aren't fit for purpose. No one wound reasonably expect a pair of school shoes to last less than a week, surely?

piprabbit · 06/09/2012 15:56

When I was little, my parents would cut out the toes of battered/outgrown shoes to cunningly convert them into sandals. Try threatening your DD with that.

Alternativey, you could try Toughees - very hard-wearing and DDs are wearing well (from last Easter). You can get them off Amazon.

This is exactly why I posted about rubber fronted girls shoes. Shoe manufacturers seem to think that only boys need these! Hmm

nosepeg · 06/09/2012 16:10

aarrgh the scraping the toes thing

it drives me WILD, there is no need for it and it totally wrecks perfectly good shoes

I made a total tit of myself last year when ds1 was wearing his brand new shoes to scoot home from school and decided to brake down a hill by dragging the toe of his shoe all the way down. I ran after him and shrieked "how COULD you do that to your new shoes", the gaggle of teenagers at the bottom were pissing themselves Blush

Sorry, no advice but sympathy! It's rubbish that the shoes aren't fit for purpose, they just aren't designed to be sanded along a stony pavement with the child's foot twisted round to ensure maximum friction Angry

I would take them back personally

children's shoes should cope with children playing!

wigglywoowoo · 06/09/2012 17:42

I don't think I would return a pair of shoes that my daughter wasn't using properly, like the previous poster she was using the fronts as brakes on the scooter at school. While the leather gets severely scuffed (no holes) I don't think I could expect anything more from them, its certainly not the shop's or manufacturer's fault.

craftynclothy · 06/09/2012 20:21

Think I'll probably see what the shop says. I probably wouldn't take them back if she'd been using them to brake on a scooter but this is just from playing in the playground at playtimes...thought she's obviously doing something other than just walking iykwim.

Are they Start-Rites?

I have had this issue twice now with them. £40 shoes scuffed to buggery in a day whilst playing at school (so in the space of maybe 2 or 3 short trips outside Confused).
