Cannot believe, dd1, sick twice this morn. Missing 1st 2 days of new year, class, teacher etc. Am worried all other kids will be settled by Fri and she will have missed out on so much.

She has only been sick twice in her whole life (one of them caused by anti-bs).

Really disappointed or am I worrying too much? Obv I'm concerned she's been sick, however, she seems ok and is eating plain toast, so looks to be on the mend.

She missed 25 days of yr 2 and we were only at Docs on Monday, getting her checked out. Doc said she ok and not to worry. See how she is this yr! Just can't believe it !

Has anyone else experience of this kind of pattern?

No, but my DD is missing her first day in Year 6 with tonsillitis. She's absolutely gutted as the Year 6s do lots of jobs around school and she's worried she either won't get a job or get a rubbish one, and may have to sit next to someone she doesn't like etc. I feel so sorry for her.
She also said she's alreday failed to get in the 100% club for this year, and it was her last chance. What bloody stupid school system sets a child up to fail before they even get there??

I completely disagree with the attendance awards. It is unfair on kids who are sick.

Sickness cannot be helped, since when is a reward for something a child has no control over a real reward?

Why don't they give it for promptness?

I'm not bitter about this. My youngest got one for last term and I didn't want to rain on her parade, so I pinned it up and made a fuss of her but I still think it's wrong on many levels.

I hope your DD is better soon and I totally get her concerns, I hope they save a 'good' job for her and she settles in well when back.

I was gutted this morn when my DD was sick. I've been giving her vitamins, making sure she drinks more, really concentrated on her sleep and diet over the summer, to ensure she's fighting fit and this happens!

It could be nerves tho, she's only been sick twice and has kept toast down for 2 hrs. Fingers crossed.

DS2 got sent home from school after being sick on his first day (year 1).
I thought he had nerves when he said he didn't feel well and didn't want to go. Oops!
However when the head saw him later on, bounding around like a loony when I went to pick up DS1 and DS3 he said he could come back the next day as he was obviously fine.
