My husband has got a job at QMC, Nottingham and will be joining in October. I have 2 kids - yr6 and nursery. Should I first need to look for a house to rent and then contact the nearest school or is it the other way round? should i contact the school directly or should I do it through our council at London?
Thanks for the help

Put the youngest down for nursery at qmc immediately as its great and over subscribed

It's usual to get a house first, then apply for a place at the education department in Nottingham. I'm guessing you're going to move to Beeston/Lenton/Stapleford? If so, this would be Broxtowe borough council, not Nottingham City. Smile

It depends on where you are going to live. If your child is in Y6 you really need to be looking at the secondary situation when choosing where to rent. Living in catchment (renting or buying) does not guarantee you a place at a school regardless.

woollaton, west bridgford or wilford best for schools, close to QMC and family friendly
Beeston too studenty and bad schools
look at Notts county council for schools, unless you are going private then nottingham high school for boys or Girls high school.
