School trousers which don't go white at the knees?

Can anyone recommend where to get them? I had M&S and Asda last year and both went white at the knees very quickly. DS will be reception/Y1 so a fair bit of kneeling on the carpet at circle time etc.

DS has worn grey school trousers all through Primary, and I have never known any to go white at the kneeConfused (Both M&S and Asda!)

I highly recommend sainsburys trousers. Found them to be the best for my boys. Smile

BhS - DS had them every year all through Primary, and every pair except 1 lasted him through the whole year (and he's a goalie in football, so lots of diving around), His last pairs lasted him for both Year 5 and Year 6!

Their dark grey - charcoal - is the best colour. Just got him black for starting secondary - we'll see hoe those go...

ds(8) charcoal/dark grey trousers (have tried various styles/prices at next, bhs, M&S, asda, tesco) all go white on the right knee within a couple of weeks of new. Knees normally through before the end of each 1/2 term.

he goes to afterschool which has a gym hall and I think its the slide tackling at footie that does it with him.

He's in P4 now and I've given in, he just needs to live with it now.

DS usually has green knees in the summer from grass stains, brown in the winter from mud ! They get to play outside on the Common at break.

We have this same issue!

DS had been back at school 3 Weeks andNext Combats are wearing well, not a mark on them even thigh he had a habit if skidding on knees and his school thinks it a good idea to havebrick climbing wall in the playground Hmm

Shock We have 3 pairs of M&S trousers in each size. They all seem to last a year when worn by DS1 and then another year when worn by DS2, and still good enough to freecycle at the end...

Perhaps you use abrasive washing powder or something Confused

I found the M&S ones went white at the knees and the Sainsbury ones did not.

mumineedapooooo · 03/09/2012 08:44

next, jean style. brought three pairs last year and they was ok to pass on to a friend with a younger ds for this year. ill never buy school trousers from anywhere else again

ChazsGoldAttitude · 03/09/2012 10:26

There was a real problem with M&S last year I ended up getting a refund because they faded so quickly and they acknowledged there was a problem with some trousers. I will try Sainsburys this year.

fedupandscared · 03/09/2012 21:59

The M&S ones I had were absolutely awful - perhaps I was unlucky with the batch, but it seems like people have good things to say about Next or Sainsburys so will give them a whirl this year and hope they haven't changed their manufacturer etc!

cakesaregood · 03/09/2012 23:00

I'd back up the dodgy batch at M&S - they weren't even the cheapies! The first set we bought there were fantastic, so I took the next year's back - with the good pair that were a year older to prove my point.

You could always do shorts - no faded knees there :-)

FannyBazaar · 04/09/2012 00:21

Yes, shorts. Shorts don't go white at the knee, wear through at the knee of get torn at the back on the hem.
