West Wimbledon primary

Hi there, have a bit of a problem. I have just had a look into schools for my little boy who will be 2 in December (maybe I am too early thinking about this?!) we live in an apostle house in Raynes park just out of the APA for Wimbledon chase primary. This means Joseph Hood is our nearest school, which I don't think is ideal. I'd be interested to hear from other people who have experience of the school? I think we are roughly 850m from West Wimbledon, do we have a hope of getting in there? We really don't want to move but maybe we have no choice...
Can anyone advise on good kingston, new Malden or Merton park schools?
Any advice help much appreciated!

Don't know about WW, sorry, but it's definitely worth a crack at Hollymount - my friend got a last minute place there from further away than you. She says there's a fair bit of movement during the year too so definitely worth staying on the waiting list even if you don't get in there to start with.

Hollymount is excellent.

Doubt very much if you'd get into Kingston/New Malden as they're very oversubscribed.
Maybe Burlington?

Thanks for your replies, very helpful. Interesting what you say about the waiting lists, I guess weve either got to move or have nerves of steel!

I live very close to you Mima Smile. That wasn't meant to sound as stalkerish as it did as I have no idea who you are!

Have a look on the merton website for distances admitted over the last few years to give you ideas of where you are likely to get a place. We found the best tactic was to apply realistically. We got offered our first choice school in terms of being realistic just so we didn't get something on th other side of the borough. But kept our DD on the waiting list for our favoured school. We got an offer on the favoured school before the start of term. There are lots of children in merton but there are also lots of schools and a transient population. About 10 children left my DDs school at the end of yr 1 so it is always possible you will be able to move in the early part of the school even if you dont get an offer straight off. I know people using all local schools(inc Jospeh Hood) and they are all happy with them.

Thanks neighbour, that's really really helpful...nice to hear from someone who's been through it! I'll hold off moving to New Malden just yet
