Help. I cant find school trousers to fit my son.

My son will be just 4 when he starts school in a couple of weeks. He is big for his age and has chunky thighs and bottom. All the trousers i have tried seem to be pull ups up until the age of 7. He cant get any of these over his legs unless i get size 8 which look ridiculous. Have considered sainsburys age 6 as they have a zip but he struggles with this.

Anyone haveba similar problem and if so have you found a brand that work or you.

Help. Im running out of time.

Have you tried BHS - they have a generous range, not sure what age it starts from tho. Failing that Ebay - plus size sellers on there. I have the same problem with my daughter (she is 9) and I dread having to buy school uniform!

Asda do zip ones I think.

Next do a generous fit kind so size 4-5 say but slightly bigger width wise I think?

RaisinDEtre · 27/08/2012 09:57

M and S do a plus range for children

Next have 'plus fit' which might be okay.

Does he have to have the smart trousers? At our primary infant children were allowed to wear the jogging type trousers in the right colour.

Would recommend the Next wider fit trousers though.

We bought the bhs generous fit last year, still look ok and will start the school year in them this term .... So over a years wear and still looking fine Grin

Thanks everyone. Will check out the plus sizes. Would rather have pull ups than zip to make things aseasy as possible for him.

See that other posters have already suggested BHS generous fit. BHS in general have a very good range of sizes (after many years of buying trousers two or three years above and having to have a belt for the waist I have discovered the wonder which is BHS right-age-in-extra-long) and IME the trousers last very well.

Yes, try Next.

ptangyangkipperbang · 27/08/2012 10:12

Next are good quality too. A couple of pairs have done my 3DS and have been passed on looking good as new.

mysteryfairy · 27/08/2012 10:14

M&S do a short range too so if you got age 8 short you might get the benefit of the older cut without the extra length.

I second m&s (different leg Mehta, pull in waists & plus fit options) or BHS.
