So what do you put in their School bag?

This may be a bit of a daft question but when I went to primary school, everything went in the one bag.
My daughter starts school this Sept and so far she has, a P.E. bag, a book bag and a lunch box bag. This has left me wondering what she needs a school bag for. My only thought is a change of underwear, as she isn't yet 4 (will be by Sept) and occasionally doesn't quite make it in time to the loo.

So at the risk of being nosy, what do you put in your child's school bag?

We take the same (PE bag, book bag, lunch bag and a bottle of water). We were also told to take in a school bag with a full change of clothes - not just for toilet accidents but also for things like if they get covered in paint or soaked playing in the water table and that sort of thing.

We stopped taking ours mid year when it had never been used.

She probably doesn't need a school bag. Did the school stipulate age needed one?

Certainly in foundation most schools will ask for PE bag and a plastic bag with spare clothes which both live on her peg, bookbag which goes in the classroom, and packed lunch bag on the trolley.

Additional big school bags are usually a pain because they take up too much room on the pegs and cause blockages and chaos in the cloakroom! I wouldn't bother.

PE bag only comes home in the holidays
Lunch box comes home every day, obviously.
Bookbag Usually contains nothing more than letters home, worksheets of they have any and the occasional reading book.
Mine are in juniors and apart from their mid morning snack is usually empty going to school.

No school bag at that age.

We don't have a school bag, the school actually discourage the parents to bring one in.

PE stays in school, book bag comes home with the book and reading diary.

Our school provides spare uniform if there is an accident may it be toilet, food or paint/water related.

I put a pair of spare knickers inside a party bag size carrier bag in her pe bag incase they were needed (she wouldnt tell anyone if she was caught short) but the school provides changes of clothes (she had to be changed after getting covered in mud from head to toe)

I would like a school bag for ease of carrying but she has a book bag, waterbottle, packed lunch and pe kit which lives at school for each half term.....and never anywhere to put the things she has made.

Thanks ladies, looks like we won't need it. I didn't realise the PE bag stays at school, very useful information. I'll put the underwear in the PE bag and just let her and her teacher know it's there.
I also had not thought about a mid morning snack. I will have to check to see if this is something the school provide as it is not on their list but I'm guessing it isn't.

In Infant the children are getting a piece of fruit and milk (we have to pay towards the milk though).

DS uses his school bag ( a back pack) to carry the lunch box, water bottle, mid morning snack and book bag to school. Also in his back pack are a sun hat and sun screen / hat n gloves depending on season. He stores his bike helmet in the school bag during the day. Theoretically his jumper gets put in the bag if he takes it off. The book bag is put into the relevant box for book change or in his tray if he doesn't need a new book. Its function seems to be to keep his reading record, school book and any letters to/ from school, school news letters, parental reply slips etc in one spot that the TA checks regularly.

At the end of the day he gathers together all his stuff n clutter and jams it in to the school bag any old way. he walks out side the classroom and I repack his school bag so it will shut.
