Yet another reading scheme question

Hi all
Sorry I know reading schemes have been done to death but I was wondering if anyone could help me.

My dc is going from a school, where they don't use a reading scheme to a school that uses Rigby Star Reading Scheme.

The curriculum for the coming year says they will be doing silver and brown level. I was interested to see how this compares to my dc's current level.

But I can't find the colours silver and brown. Any ideas as to what level these are?

TIA

Brown is roughly NC level 3b and grey/silver is roughly 3a.

My first thought however is how does the school know that all the pupils will be working at the same levels this year Hmm

Mrz I did have exactly the same thought, although it is a small school, and the others in the class are all moving up so maybe they are just at the same level, so can do it from that.

I thought I'd better look at what it was to see if my dc was up to speed.

I am right in thinking that's high for children going into year 3?!?

And that levels go from 3c to 3a?

Even( maybe, especially!) in a small school the spread of abilities would be greater than this!
This seems a rather strange way of reading!

What a strange thing to have on the curriculum! Maybe they mean they're aiming to get them all at that level during the year? Even that seems odd though

I wouldn't expect all Y3 to be reading at the beginning of the year which is why I find it strange. It really is an odd thing to include in the curriculum.
