Only half time TA in reception class

My DD is attracting reception in September. There are 2 reception classes which will share a TA. Most schools seem to have a TA for each class. There are 30 children in the class and it is an outstanding school. Can anyone foresee this being a problem?
Thanks.

Does seem a bit light for a Reception class but I'm sure will work fine, just requires the teachers to be more organised!! Also worth saying ,that although they are not dedicated to Reception there may well be other school staff that work in Reception from time to time - this certainly happens at DD's school where there is normally at least 1 extra member of staff (on top of Reception staff) working with Reception children at any given time!

It is not necessarily an issue but maybe something that you need to find out more information on. Specifically the foundation stage is supposed to be mainly learning by play and that includes outside. So if they are "learning outside" then who is covering this from both a learning and safeguarding point of view.
It could be that this is what the TA is doing, which is fine, but if not I would have some concerns about exactly how things are being organised.

Bet there are statemented dc in each class with a TA each. Officially meant to be doing 1-1 for that child, but they'll be expected to muck in with the other dc as well.

Are you sure that the classes will only have the share of one TA? My dds attended Reception at different schools. One had one full-time TA plus another TA attached to a particular child (who ended up helping out a lot); the other had three TAs doing different days. Often there were two TAs in the class - one taking small groups out for activities, and one helping. There was also a student who seemed to be there for at least a term.

Often schools have an official TA and then extra people who appear. It's impossible to fathom what is going on, so I really wouldn't worry at this stage.

You may also find there are extra adults in the form of volunteers and students from local colleges. As FS2 is a popular age for people to want to help out with.
