Primary schools in Wimbledon area?

Just wondered if any one has any knowledge on good private primary schools around Wimbledon? We live in Raynes Park and our daughter is 21 months old. We would like her to go to Godolphin + Latymer when she is older and It looks as if schools like Ravenscourt Park Preparatory School are better regarded in terms of preparing kids for the "top" secondary schools. Does anyone have any advice on private primary in SW19?

A few things to think about.

  1. Are you really sure you want to set your heart on Goldophin when she is so little? It might be better to think little more broadly at this stage as it may not be the right school for her. At 21 months it is much to early to tell. Its not just academic v less academic, its also sporty? Singel sex? Drama? Music? There are lots of good schools which are accessible from RP - my DD is nearly 9 and we have yet to narrow down which school we think will be right for her.
  1. Are you dead set against state schools for primary? Merton has some really good primaries and if you are in the right bit of Raynes Park you might get in. Hollymount is an excellent school and you could start of there and happily head somewhere else at 7+ or 11+. Lots of DC go state for primary and then private for secondary or prep. There is is a lot to be savings fees for a few years at least?
  1. If you definitely want private go and look at the Merton schools. If you're sure you want academic take a look at Wimbledon High and The Study. The Study has a slightly less academic reputation but if you look at the destinations of leavers it!s very clear that girls do go on to what are considered 'good' schools? The Rowans is also possible, particularly if you go on to have a DS.
  1. Don't go too far from home from primary unless it is convenient for work and even if it is good for work remember that can change. When they're little it is so much easier to walk or have a short drive to school. They can go a bit further when they're old enough to be there themselves!

Thanks mertonmama, we are considering moving to a different area as there are not many good secondary schools in Merton. We still want to stay in SW London though, that is why I was looking at Chiswick and Hammersmith. Thanks!
