please humour me, another dull question about name labels

after taking heed of teachers' pleas to label, label then label some more, is there anywhere online i can order (in one go so i save on p&p) some sew in woven name tapes, shoe labels, bag tags and anything else i might need? the cheaper the better!

i have some stuck on you sticky labels i am still working through from nursery for lunch boxes, bottles etc but i am running out of clothes labels. I have had iron on labels that dont stay on so i fear i may have to learn to sew.

i have also invested in a sharpie laundry pen to 'double label' as i read that quite often uniform gets pinched Shock.

any suggestions would be great, thank you!

I haven't tried them myself, but apparently the M&S (online) ones are brilliant.

I got all if ours from eBay. Good qualify name tapes to sew in for about £4 including post much cheaper than John Lewis ir m&s. I also got vinyl name stickers from eBay as well. But always found the best way to label us sharpie on every label. Even the school socks from m&s have a space on the inside of the top of the socks for you to write in marker pen.

I use the easy2name iron on and stick on fab and funky labels. There is a mumsnet discount too. www.mumsnet.com/partner-offers/easy2name

I still think by far the best sew-in name tapes are Cash's. They are very quick, excellent quality and I am still reusing name tapes sewn in to clothes in Reception and my ds is about to go in to Y6.

Hi
Another money saver..if you have 2 children have both their names on the label.

Mark Smith John......fold over the name you don;t want and then you halve the cost of having to get two lots done.

If you don;t like sewing there are labels that can be clipped in - on this website
www.nametag-it.co.uk/types.php?cid=1
quite expensive but if you can;t sew may be worth a look.

As a reception teacher PLEASE PLEASE label everything. After one week in September I haev 2 sweatshirts, a tee shirt, 2 pairs of socks and a complete pe kit....most of it never got claimed either. It amazes me how parents can afford not to name things. I even have a laundry pen which I tell parents that they may use if they don;t have on of their own....and still they don;t!!!

I got the easy2name starter pack... quite expensive but they did the job.

Then the next year i got some from ebay which were twice as many labels for half the money of easy2name and they've been useless as the names and background colour keep rubbing off. Its ok when its something that only needs named for a short while (e.g. mufti) but no use at all for school uniform or shoes.

Unfortunately, I think you get what you pay for with name labels.

Scholes34 · 17/07/2012 09:29

Still using (and also reusing, because the quality's good) the same bundle of Cash's labels I bought for DD to go into reception, and she's about to start Year 11.

Cash also do stick on labels/ shoe labels. They have a mixed pack with a variety of sizes etc.

I use these with cash's sew in labels. (I use the sewing machine to sew them in, takes half an hour ish to do the lot)

shelley72 · 18/07/2012 08:11

thank you for all the suggestions. have decided to go with Cash name tapes as we have had these in the past for nursery (shame I didnt have the foresight to take them off and re-use Sad).
Blowninonabreeze are they a bit tricky to sew in with a machine? i am not v good at sewing!!!

Not tricky at all, if you can use a machine, I go all round 4 sides, but alternatively you could just do the 2 short ends.

We have dozens (hundreds?) of cash's name tapes from when dh was at school. I will fold over his initials to leave surname showing. When de starts in 2 years I can leave dh middle initial showing as it is ds 1st initial. Should I use a sharpie for dd shoes?
