Hi I have my appeal on Wednesday , I have gathered that much info I just hope I can deliver it to the panel , it is an ics, so I know we are taking a gamble. Is there any tips anybody can give me , I have been preparing since April but as the date is getting nearer I feel less and less prepared , and with it been last wk my daughter could be at the school , she will finish the term not knowing if she coming back, so don't know whether she should be saying goodbye to her friends and teachers . Will be glad when we know wot is happening !! Sorry for the moan !!

Thanks, yes feeling narked that it has dragged out so long. I never realised the stress it would cause. Just having a wobble I think due to the low success rate plus negative comments from people who have had their appeal . Just writing all my points out now x

Frankly, I think the reason for these ICS appeals is only as a safety net in case the LA have messed up big time. Unless they have they are nearly impossible to win.

Write down your points and make sure you have covered everything as other posters have said. Recheck your circumstances against the admissions criteria again and see if there is any flaw in the LAs case.

That's very true Tiggytape. As the school and LA seem to be inept in organising the appeal, let's hope that OP can find some other flaw in their case.

It would be best to have made notes so that you can ensure that you do say everything that you want to say.
You need to understand that winning an ICS appeal is all around proving that a mistake has been made in the admission process and you would have been offered a place if it had been done properly. So you need to concentrate in stage 1 of the appeal in trying to knock holes in the admission authorities case not to admit, whereas stage 2 is where it is about your own individual circumstances for admission to the school.
I have not doubt you will be worried and concerned to do a good job but everybody that appeals is the same, so don't think you are somehow the only one who is nervous. Take a deep breathe and take your time to give you the best possible chance of succeeding.

My daughter had her appeal for Birmingham Primary place, which was unsuccessful. She has been told that no Primary appeals were upheld in Birmingham. Has anyone every won an appeal on a change of circumstances. Since the application her younger child has been diagnosed with a terminal illness, and her older child needs to go to the school where all other children in her road attend (even those who applied this year). She was 41 metres outside the cut off, which was halved this year. She submitted additional information including information on the condition, local area transport reviews, photographs of the route (a main arterial road carrying in excess of 20,000 vehicles per day), and medical letter of support. We urgently need to know if anyone has ever won a primary appeal on the grounds of "reasonableness" or "significant and material changes to their circumstances". It is too far to walk with the children, the bus is once an hour and the car (no parking) would be distressing as the child's condition has deteriorated. Now in wheelchair/pushchair, with feeding tube and soon automatic continuous feed, suctioning equipment and oxygen. Child is 20 months old! Any case law or cases won under such circumstances would be appreciated.
