DS1's teacher has been amazing. He joined the school 18 months ago and has some additional needs.

At his previous school he was constantly called thick/stupid etc and therefore his confidence was non exsistent.

Then we met her and honestly she turned it all around.

He has gone from level 2 (in yr 5) to level 5 (end of yr6)

He has friends and is brimming with confidence at starting high school.

I wish there was some way of nominating her for an award as she is starting retirement at the end of this year Sad

Mrs Teacher...........................THANKS x

Write her a letter saying all this and other compliments. She will keep it forever.

If you wrote to the HT and the school Governors telling them what you have told us then that would be lovely for her.You could also have a bouquet delivered on the last day and send a card from your ds with an additional note from you.
Congratulations on your ds success-he has done so well.

I have done a letter and even painted flowers on it!

We have bought her a gift and contributed to her retirement.

DS has made her a card.

I am just stunned that someone would go to the lengths that she has with a pupil, he is a totally different child.

Tell her. Write it down so she can keep it. Be specific about the things she has done.

So glad it has worked out for your DS Smile

a quick google brings up this, have heard of them before.
Congratulations to your ds, he has worked hard and I am sure it has been a joint effort between him and his teacher so while your right in that she must be a remarkable teacher, your son to is a remarkable boy!

serin · 14/07/2012 20:46

Our local paper run an annual Teacher of the Year award. Can you find out if yours do the same and nominate her?

She sounds brilliant and I am sure loads of children have benefited from her as well as your son.

She sounds great and deserves to be recognised, I would also be tempted to write an 'I'm sure you would like to hear of my son's success since leaving your soul sapping school ' to the other school!

Truly, a letter or a card saying what you feel is the best gift.
I keep the special ones to give me a lift when the government, parents, SLT or MN makes me feel shit about my job.
Read and remember and wonder what that child is doing now they are adult.
