help with school uniform

Hi all, DS starts school in sept and part of his uniform consists of a logo'd sweatshirt available only in one designated shop - the problem is my ds has a rather large head and to get his head to go is difficult - for the size where his head will go through , that the sweatshirt is much too big. I also think he will struggle to get it on and off at school.
The list does say he can wear a plain navy or red sweatshirt as an alternative but I think i will have the same problem. Does anyone have any ideas as to how i can get around this -( to be honest i think he might generally be too hot to wear it anyway but i am not sure how cold the classrooms get in the winter)or does anyone know where i might be able to get a plain navy or red sweatshirt with a bigger head hole?

Why not get a v neck jumper instead. Asda do soft cottony ones rather than sweatshirt material

Chuck could you not unstich one side at the head and then put some velcro in, so it will open as ds head goes through?

DS1 has this problem and struggles with the designated school jumpers. I have found that the cheaper supermarket jumpers are better as the fabric is softer. As it doesn't hold its shape as well as the more expensive school jumpers the head holes moulds to his head shape.

in our uniform shop, you can take in your own items and they will add the badge, think it costs about £4. That way you can find your own item in the regulation colour and get the badge sewn in. Some of the kids in our school wear a hoody with the badge sewn on instead of a sweatshirt - not my taste certainly but as long as it is in the school colour and has the badge then it is accepted as uniform. It may be worth asking who the supplier is and see if you can sent off/take in your own item for logo'ing. Also, they seem to change suppliers of the sweatshirts all the time so I tend to have about 3 different manufacturers sweatshirts on the go at any one time - some fit better than others!

Thanks for your suggestions. Unfortunately he's not allowed to wear a v neck jumper as that would have been ideal.

I will have a look at seein if I can unstitch and velcro that sounds a good idea

I'll also look at the supermarket ones. then he can have one with a logo incase he needs it to look smart and extra supermarket ones for for everyday

Our school do a fleece jumper with a zip. I get these for my DS's with unnaturally large heads! Grin

Do the school do something like that?
