Report 'euphemisms'

DD1 brought her first (YR) report home this week and, while being generally very good, one comment did make me chuckle. It said "DD1 is a lively member of the class who always has something to say" - roughly translated - she's a chopsy bugger who never shuts up Wink.

A friend of mine had "DC is an assertive child who knows what she wants" (i.e. a bossy boots!) Smile

Just wondering if anyone else had any interesting 'euphemisms' on their DC reports they'd like to share?

DS2 (10) 'Contributes well to class discussions'=Won't shut up. 'Shows good ability to lead a group'=bossy.

sleepingbunny · 11/07/2012 22:03

DD1 YR "shows good concentration skills in self-chosen activities but when faced with a challenge finds it harder to persevere"

(does exactly what she wants to, and not what the teacher wants her to. And yes, I have exactly the same problem with her)

wigglywoowoo · 11/07/2012 22:16

DD has "a strong sense of right and wrong" = she tells people off when they are doing something that they shouldn't.

numbum · 11/07/2012 22:18

DD in reception 'Enjoys entertaining the class with her, rather unbelievable stories!'...class clown

gallicgirl · 11/07/2012 22:20

It starts early. DD is 18 MO and has just moved up a room at nursery so had a progress report from the baby room.

DD's "communication skills are excellent and she is able to communicate well with her peers and carers".

Roughly translated as "never shuts up, wakes up the other children trying to sleep and does a good line in point and grunt".

iklboo · 11/07/2012 22:20

DS in YR1 'uses other ambitious punctuation' (eg I have no idea what that symbol is. He probably made it up).

Hassled · 11/07/2012 22:21

DS1 had "X takes a bull in a china shop approach to art" :o. Less of a euphenism, more of an out and out "this kid needs to calm the hell down".

DS2 got something about "strong views which he likes to share". Yes - we know, we have to live with it :o.

timetosmile · 11/07/2012 22:25

for my 4 year old "DC excels at, and needs, outdoor physical exercise"

Livinginorganisedchaos · 11/07/2012 22:33

For my 5 yr old DD " DD understands the importance of rules and sometimes follow them"

No change from home then!

timetosmile · 11/07/2012 22:38

he also "contributes well to small and large group discussions, but likes to have the last word" Hmm

TalHotBlond · 11/07/2012 22:46

"Lively" and "spirited". Has the temperament of an over-excited labrador. Yep, we had noticed!

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 11/07/2012 22:57

My friend's DS 'enthusiasm sometimes bubbles over into unnecessary chatter.' Won't ever shut up!

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 11/07/2012 22:59

I like 'excels at, and needs, outdoor physical exercise!' Grin

manchestermummy · 12/07/2012 11:46

"An enquiring mind" = never stops asking questions. So true!

MrsTrellisOfSouthWales · 12/07/2012 12:08

Mine have lots of "X can do Y" but clearly never does and a classic one of "X is confident around adults and likes to share his stories with them" Grin

Runoutofideas · 12/07/2012 12:20

"X is the youngest in the class and as such took a little while to settle" which actually means X is the child who screamed and had to be peeled off every day from September through to February!

My friend's dd had "x is able to focus well when the subject sparks her interest" ie - mucks around when she's not interested!

AuntieBulgaria · 12/07/2012 16:07

'more than comfortable to express her opinion.' Grin

timetosmile · 12/07/2012 20:17

ellen I can only wonder at what my energetic little dynamo was like at 'wet playtimes' Smile

Sittinginthesun · 12/07/2012 21:00

Haven't got the reports handy, but Reception DS2 had a large section about him being "extremely articulate and using extensive vocab and gestures". Or, as DS1 put it - " he talks all the time and waves his hands around a lot". Smile
