Books about growing up (for 10-year-olds)

Looking for some advice... My DD is 10, and we have talked about growing up, what happens to your body, etc., although I haven't really explained in detail how babies are made.

I think it would be good to get a book for her, so she can read it when she wants to (I will answer her questions, but I think she might be embarassed to ask). Or maybe we could read it together.

I found "What's Happening to Me?" by Susan Meredith, and "Little Book of Growing Up" by Victoria Parker, but before buying one, I thought that maybe somebody on MN could tell me their opinion.

Any suggestions? Thank you.

The headteacher at our school recommended "Hair in funny Places" as a no nonsense approach to the changes that happen during puberty

I always recommend What's Happening to Me - we have both boy and girl versions, and it seemed to be the right combination of facts, illustration and reassuring stuff.

I agree with exexpat. We bought the same book for DD10 and it's been very well received. I recommended another mum buy it for her DD aged 10 too. It very sensitively deals with and explains all they need to know. I've had far less questions than I was anticipating. We've let DD read it at her own pace.

Thank you all of you. It's good to have other MNters' opinions.
