Look on your Lea website they might have jobs advertised.

FriskyMare · 05/07/2012 20:17

Depends on what level you are.
I'm a TA1 so on really crap money but love my job so don't really care.

Have a look on your council vacancies web site.

bamboostalks · 05/07/2012 20:23

It is often a yearly salary pro rata.

mrz · 05/07/2012 20:24

It really depends where you live, your qualifications and the school.

The jod I've seen is for a Grade E in Wiltshire - what does that make in real money?

salary bands here

but don't forget TA pay is prorata both for hours worked for week & termtime working.

for example a FTE salary of £15k for a TA working 25hrs a week would be

15k 25/37 43/52 (typically paid for 39 weeks of term + 4 weeks holiday although this varies from LA to LA)

so actual salary would be £8,380.

Thank you Betsy - I calculated the hourly rate but didn't factor in holiday - if they say term time only does that include holidays of 4 weeks or not ?

Not.

TA wages are a pittance.

That looks to be about £8 per hour, quite a good pay for a TA job. But you will literally only be paid for the actual lesson hours, and possibly two fifteen minute breaks.

Most are on about £6.50 per hour.

To be blunt though, don't do it for the money.

mrz · 05/07/2012 21:24

Our support staff are salaried and paid much more than £8 per hour

Ruprekt · 05/07/2012 22:07

Yes but it sounds like you are in a Super School mrz and WE ALL want to work there!

AngelEyes46 · 05/07/2012 22:54

16830/52.14/37=8.72 per hour as the salary bands show so your hourly rate is as says (£8.72). However, Betsy is correct in that you won't get 16830 per annum (it will be pro-ratad to the amount of hours you work and the amount of working weeks you work but hourly rate is not £6.50 but £8.72. For you to work out your actual take home pay you need to know your hours worked per week and the annual leave that is paid. The local authority that I work for is 6 weeks.
