Does anyone know the average score for a child leaving reception? and the maximum on these levels- is it 10?

I believe the maximum is 9 and the average is 6. But that's just off the top of my head - I might have that wrong.

I think in England it's out of 9, average 6.
In Wales it is out of 7, expected level at end of reception is 5 (6 end of yr1, 7 end yr 2)

And after that it moves onto the NC levels of 1c, 1b,1a etc.

This is all new to me and DS is so far behind, but I am trying to work out how far behind he is iyswim.

A child working at profile point 9 in working within NC levels but the profile is the statutory document which must be reported to parents and the government. Children move to NC levels in Key Stage 1 if they have achieved points 4-8 of the profile.

Is there anywhere online I can find the individual criteria for each area?

So if a child who is average is on a level 6, a level 2 is quite low then isnt it?

They aren't levels. It is a numerical score.

Has the school given you a copy of the profile or just raw scores? If it is the latter I'm afraid there is no way of knowing which points have been achieved as the ELGs aren't hierarchical and can be achieved in any order.
