Teaching staff to write farewell cards for all pupils (leavers)?

Last year in a private school we had to write 'Good Luck' cards + give little presents (books) to children moving to Junior schools. This year I am working in a state school and it doesn't seems to be the same.
Are the children leaving school in your area (or your children) receiving anything from school before moving on? Thanks.

The PTA organises a small tokeney sort of gift for leavers - last year it was a autograph book thing (Yr6). Apart from that - no.

They're getting six years of fine education, happy memories of the end of year play, an end of term disco and no doubt a whole load of mischief and fun in the last week. I wouldn't expect anything else.

Kind of defeats the object if you have to write them a card.
My son got a little book as a leaving present from nursery.
Not sure how the private/state thing is relevant really. All schools are different

Year 6's here get a book with a printed label inside wishing them well in secondary school.

My DD got a dictionary from the PTA.

In the state primary my girls attend, P7's get a dictionary from the PTA (handed over my Chair of PTA at leaver's service) before they go up to High School.

There is also a (cheesy) bit in the service when the other children recall their fave memory of a P7 and the P7 recalls their fave thing at school.

So I think that is plenty of recognition, far more than in my day.

normally the teacher buys their own cards and gifts for each child in their class.

At our school the PTA makes a yearbook for them. We're a small school with an average year size of about 13-14 kids, the kids take pictures of each other and then we (usually I) put it together into a book with space for each child to write a message under their own picture in each others' books. It's printed off on the school laser printer so there is very little cost involved but is usually really popular with the kids.
