Catchment area dilemma: What would you do???

Hi there,

Just looking for some feedback...I'm sure I'll get a few mixed responses but here goes...

I own a very small flat in the catchment area of an outstanding primary school that we would love our DS to get into. However we moved nearby to a bigger place in January whose street is on the borderline of the same school, this year all the kids on the street got in but they haven't in previous years. My DS got a nursery place at this school so I am really keen he gets into the reception class with his new friends (getting a nursery place does not guarantee reception place).

We have talked about moving back to the (very small :-() old place but not sure how long we would need to (or could realistically) or if it would be a safe bet. The last thing I want to do is sabotage my sons primary school place when he might have got in where we are now anyway!

Thanks :-)

Thanks very much for that, all makes sense. We are renting the new place but hung on to the smaller flat we own in case we ever wanted to move back. Not sure if that makes any difference? We don't claim any child benefit and my son is due to start nursery there soon. Currently they have the address we are at now and it might look odd if we move back to old place then back here but then again people move right? We might be buying a house that needs a lot of work actually so may need to move back to old place for a while, surely that wouldn't be disputed? I will look into the LEA policy and see what I can find too. Cheers.
