DD drawing 'rude body parts'

DD's teacher called me in yesterday and showed me her work-book, she has been drawing people with willies and vaginas... her reason is that her friend told her too.... Hmm
I said I would have a word with her (which I have done) but I am also in two minds about it...the teacher deemed it inappropriate and rude, but is she not just becoming aware? (She was 6 in Feb, her brother is 5 and they bath together)

At that level I think it's just children's stuff and it's fine. Where's the threat? I expect when adolescents or adults get involved in asking children to do this sort of thing the problem arises. The Garden of Eden is a fine place. But it's recognising the snake that's the hard bit.

Aw its fine, just an observation that one has a floppy dangeler and the other doesn't.

How do you feel about it?

I would ignore it tbh.

I don't see it as an issue myself, but her teacher was not impressed at all. She is very switched on for 6yrs old, I personally think she is becoming more aware of the differences between boys and girls, and the friend that told her to do it probably encouraged a little what was already there in her mind.... I am just slightly worried that the teacher was making a big deal of it and it will lead to more.

hmmm, if you really think that it's the teacher who's got the problem, then, by all means, talk to her. But at this stage, if it was me, I'd forget about it.

I think the teacher is making more of it than needed but they do have their P&Ps to adhere to.

I don't think anything more will come of it, I think the teacher felt she needed to report it to you and there it ends.

I remember having a very embarrasing convo with a teacher in reception as DD2 was hot and tried to strip, I said I didn't have a problem with it as DD normall stripped to her knickers in the car because she gets hot and the theacher asked if I found that appropriate behaviour.

"Er no, she is always doing it"

It wasn't mentioned again!!

I'll probably talk to the teacher Monday. She will probably say it is not appropriate for school, or something along those lines. Will see. Thanks :)

Let's hope the teacher doesn't go to the National Gallery. She'd be shocked by the genitalia on display! Wink
