What happens to a child's work if they leave a school?

I wondered if anybody knew if, as parents, we are legally entitled to receive a child's work if they have left a school? I know it's a very general question but any help would be very much appreciated! Many thanks.

My dd was given all her work on the day she left. It was the last day of term though.

I beleive all the school work has to be passed to the new school, that said some art work was given to my DD on her last day.

we don't pass on all school books we send over the official file with all reports and copies of any letters in, and for the smaller kids their learning journals, the older children have a leaving information sheet completed by the teacher, showing grades and commenting on childs abilities. Their books are kept with us until next time the shredding van comes. But normally at the end of the school year we bag everyones work and it goes home about 2 days before the end of term. for the parents to cherish/bin as they desire!

We pass on books to the next school and usually receive the same. I generally read through the literacy/numeracy ones to look at targets, levels etc and through topic books to see what has been covered. I then send the books home with the new child.
