To Kumon or not to Kumon. That is the question.

DD is starting school in September. Below are the Pros and Cons I have been debating recently.

  1. She is bright, so should be okay without extra help in school
  2. It is too early to put her through this
  3. Kumon is expensive and time consuming.

The Pros

  1. It may give her that bit of extra confidence at school
  2. Earlier is better as then she can grow with that system
  3. Its not so expensive as to be prohibitive.

I really cant decide either way. Please someone help?

For what it's worth I don't regard it as winning or losing (for the most part of this thread I was posting quotes I like mainly about the importance of play to myself )

Mrz, clam etc, if u r all really teachers, I feel sorry that I have to send my dd to school to be taught by the likes of u, With your closed minds and bullying childish techniques for putting arguments through. No wonder the education system is in the state it is today. I am not sure why you reverted to this. I am disappointed. Your arguments halfway up the thread were making sense.

eastnorth, mrz etc seem to have a lot of time on their hands being teachers as there is so much crap pasted on here. I guess People interested wont be able to share experiences either way on this topic due to this. So therefore we will leave them to cut and paste all day and teach our kids ourselves. If these ladies are really teachers, I really am disappointed in their behaviour.

I should be devastated that you don't like my quotes ... fortunately I won't lose any sleep worrying about your lack of approval.

megabored · 27/06/2012 17:03

mrz They are not even your quotes are they?! Thy are copied and pasted from another site to fill this topic with junk. if u had made up some quotes of ur own, or had something valid to say that is not already said, then I would like them.

fuzzpig · 27/06/2012 17:05

Surely the point of a quote is that it is from somebody else :o

megabored · 27/06/2012 17:10

Not really. Something said once by myself can be used as a quote by myself again. Grin

Another quote for you megabored

this time from the dictionary

"quote"
   [kwoht]
1.
to repeat (a passage, phrase, etc.) from a book, speech, or the like, as by way of authority, illustration, etc.
2.
to repeat words from (a book, author, etc.).

If they were my words they wouldn't be a quote they would be a statement, an opinion, a point of view

megabored · 27/06/2012 17:47

Clearly you do not understand English. Please read the dictionary definition yourself. Hmm

Arf! Grin

mrz · 27/06/2012 17:58

Well the dictionary definition I posted covers the quotes I have posted ...

mrz · 27/06/2012 18:02

If I were typing my own words they would not be a quote unless they were from a published piece or work.

megabored · 27/06/2012 18:18

Mrz, I am beginning to understand why a lot of posters in here dislike you. Wink

Mrz "Shut up"

TheSpokenNerd · 27/06/2012 18:26

Ooh Seeker makes me feel BETTER about not doing Kumon! My DD is too knnackered to get hauled off to some blinking centre...she's 7! She wants to ride her bike.

mrz · 27/06/2012 18:28

Why StarBallBUnny?

Feenie · 27/06/2012 18:29

Weird how all the personal attacks are from Kumon enthusiasts....I wonder what that means? Confused Grin

megabored Your information is severely flawed and, well - just total bollocks, really.

mrz · 27/06/2012 18:30

megabored well done! Grin how observant of you ...it's only taken you 700 posts Hmm

megabored · 27/06/2012 18:35

Mrz, fortunately I did not create those 700 posts. Not did I bother reading most of urs. Does posting on here claiming you are a teacher give your life some validity or meaning? Then maybe I can help you by creating another post that you can spend hrs Cutting and pasting on. Let me know. Wink

RosemaryandThyme · 27/06/2012 18:37

Just wondering if the little one is going to Kumon now ?

SunflowersSmile · 27/06/2012 18:37

That is a bit rude and personal megabored....

mrz · 27/06/2012 18:37

I don't need to claim I'm a teacher megabored Smile

mrz · 27/06/2012 18:40

If I wanted megabored's approval I would have agreed with her but I prefer honesty.

megabored · 27/06/2012 18:40

Sunflowers, yes I am being rude. What is
Mrz trying to achieve by cutting and pasting 100s of items? I thought this site, discussions board was to discuss valid legitimate things not piss people off with bullying tactics.

Perhaps if you had read the quotes you may have understood their relevance to the thread megabored
