Just wondering what the going rate is for extra curricular (sp) clubs.

I would suggest it depends what they are, where they are (school or externally) and the part of the country you are in.

Clubs at school here tend to be free or low cost. (though cookery at DS's school is £12 a session - run by external company).

Could you give us more details of what information you want?

DS1 started after school football, run by the manager of a local non-league side, in September 2003. It cost £2.50 a session and is still £2.50 a session nine years later.

Swimming is about £4 to £5 a lesson, judo £4.50 a session, cubs and scouts £22 a term, ballet £8 a class, cello £21!

Cookery club at our schooll was about £12 a session, but included a meal for the family. However, I felt able enough to teach cookery myself at home!

DD's swimming works out at £8/lesson.
Rainbows is £20/term, Brownies is £25/term.
After school football club was £35 for a 10 week course run by coaches from the local football club.
Not done anything else yet.

Our sports clubs seem to work out at about £3 a session.

AdventuresWithVoles · 13/06/2012 18:36

£3-£4 session, but most clubs are free.

PooshTun · 13/06/2012 18:55

When my DCs were at primary school after school football, netball and cricket was free (the clubs were run by the teachers). On top of this, external people would run clubs like scrap book-ing, ceramics, dance etc. The charge was about £2.50 rising to £5 where materials had to be provided.by the organiser.

Some of the prices mentioned by other posters seem quite high.

My school have a policy of not charging for after school clubs.

My ds's school use outside companies, and last term I paid £17.50 for a 5 week multi-sports club for Y1 ds, which seemed quite steep to me.

UniS · 13/06/2012 19:01

school clubs are all free of charge AFAIK. but only run for 5 weeks of each half term ( or less, and may be on a rota basis if over subscribed)

Cricket club charge 2.50 a session.
Dance is 4 quid
Swimming lesson about 5 quid.

All free at our school, even the gym club which is run by an external coach. Some are all the time, some are seasonal. We have various, sports, orchestra and choir and creative clubs.

We have before school sessions too.

We ask for a £2 donation for the term. It subsidises art club, tbh.
