Relaxing, dd is exhausted. She will read a lot because she always does, we will have days out if it turns out to be educational it won't be planned and we'll play games and talk a lot. Tbh I've never been one to do any formal teaching at home so no different to usual here.

BeckyBendyLegs · 02/06/2012 15:47

To help my children learn? Errr, talking to them, being with them, taking an interest in the world around us, that's all.

itdoesnthurttohavemanners · 02/06/2012 15:59

Writing reports all bloodyweek!

Sparklingbunting · 02/06/2012 16:01

They will be learning how to relax mainly. It's been a very long term.

mycatoscar · 02/06/2012 16:06

I'll be writing reports all week Sad so dd will be spending time with grandma Smile

oliverreed · 02/06/2012 16:26

short trip to Europe (3 nts), visits to seaside if the weather is good to see friends and the odd museum trip. It was really nice this morning to see ds chill out, lounge around in bed and watch tv rather than up at the crack of dawn for football club etc. Nothing really 'educational' but all hopefully enjoyable. He has quite a bit of homework though that we will try to space out over the next 9 days.

cookiesnap · 02/06/2012 16:47

I just wouldn't think of the holidays as a time to help my dc learn; I see it as a chance to take time out, catch up with friends, enjoy each other's company.

I am working a lot at the moment and am not sure how the week is going to pan out. But ideally I would also use it as a time to do a bit of cooking, sewing, swimming. DH would take them to a London museum if he wasn't so busy, but again I would see this as fun rather than educational (though it is, of course).

Will read with my youngest because she is in R; might force myself to do a bit of reading with my eldest to work on a bit of expression. What I really should do is practise throwing and catching a ball, which we never ever do.

My DD is with GP's this weekend and GP next, she has her bday on thursday so she is going for her ears pierced! (She is 9 this time and has been asking for them doing for yrs!) The rest of the week will be spent with her friends on the street and seeing family.

She might do a couple of hours on her books etc but that's only if she wants to!!

motherinferior · 02/06/2012 16:56

Bugger all. It's the holidays. They may have homework, I haven't checked. I wasn't exactly planning on a high-intensity educational experience, frankly.

Tgger · 02/06/2012 17:56

Well, I have booked DS onto 3 swimming lessons, but that's it. The rest we will make up as we go along, and nothing too adventurous as just me and the kids Wed-Friday. Also DS YR is tired and has just got over an ear infection so needs chilling out time. We will go for the odd walk/trip to the playground/trip to the bookshop (with cafe Smile).

simpson · 03/06/2012 09:31

Both DC (6 & 4) will read every day as they usually do and DS has homework to do but other than that DS is booked in a football academy type thing for 3 days and I am taking the kids to Hampton Court Palace on Tuesday and we will catch the boat down the Thames. But that is for fun, not about learning iyswim.

Rockpool · 03/06/2012 10:12

My 3 are absolutely shattered in great need of a rest and relaxing and it's only a week so not a lot.

We're looking after a friend's 5 guinea pigs, doing a NT treasure hunt, watching the pageant on TV(following the route on a map as dtwin 8 is London mad),have checked out loads of books from the library as they love to read, going to a 1950 party,a bbq,got to write to their penfriends, catch up with friends etc, etc. All educational imvho but relaxing and what they'd choose to do.

May do a bit of times tables so we don't have to do any homework when they go back as I struggle with fitting in homework in term time weekends(dc 8,8 and7) but if we don't we don't.

May do none of the above if too shattered,it's been a killer of a term.

RaisinBoys · 03/06/2012 20:26

We're all tired so we're visiting family (so we don't have to cook or do housework) to have some fun. DS and Dad and Brother in Law are off camping for a couple of nights later in the week and I will stay with my sis and if the blooming weather picks up we will drink fizzy stuff in the garden and put the world to rights.

DS always has a book with him so he will finish Deathly Hallows & he will be learning how to have fun with people of all ages, he'll be consolidating his geography - both sets we're visiting live a fair distance from us. He'll also be learning the benefits of R&R!

Oh, we will be forced to do some homework as his teacher has decided to set a project "with prizes for the top 3" on the heart and circulation system!!!! FFS! 8yr olds can be ridiculously competitive...DS has taken the bait

FashionEaster · 03/06/2012 20:38

Yesterday the dcs went swimming and then to a friends for a birthday bbq. Dc1 did some Mathlectics this morning as he hoped I'd be so impressed he could go on Club Penguin. In the end he stuck with the Mathlectics as he was enjoying it. Otherwise we have just mooched today, watched a DVD that dc2 hadn't opened from her birthday. We are all relaxing, enjoying not having to be anywhere.

Might take off for the Space Museum later in the week if the weather remains glum, although just pottering to a little cafe for cake also has its appeal Smile They always have a nose in a book - bed time story awaits - hope it's not Owl Babies again!

We have gone to our holiday home for a few days, will go to the beach, visit a castle or 2, generally laze around and visit so DH's family. The kids seem happy mooching around and playing games with each other and their enormous collection of cuddly toys. We will do the homework that's been set when we get back to our house on Thursday. Otherwise we won't do anything remotely connected to school. Though DD spent this morning inventing homework for each of the cuddly toys and doing a page containing a picture, a sentence and 2 sums for each one. It took her nearly 2 hours and she had great fun. She's yr 1. DS is most unlikely to do anything work connected, he is deeply involved in memorising every possible statistic about the French open and any cricket game that's going.
