when does this happen . I mean for reception places. I have accepted a place but DS is first on waiting list at preferred school. Trying to be organised and want to get some uniform!

That might be a local thing, it isn't done in rounds around here, when they know they have a free space then they offer it to the person at the top of the waiting list at that point so that could be anything form a few days after the offers are made to after the school year has actually started.

Oh right, i can't find a date on their webpage that accepting offers had to be done by.

Second round is on 6th June where we live

numbum · 22/05/2012 09:17

The closing date is 27th May so I assume 6 June is when the offers will be sent out

It varies from area to area. Some send out offers as soon as places are rejected (which is actually what they are supposed to do), some wait and have a formal second round. Note that places don't become available just because someone hasn't accepted by the deadline. The LA is required to write again to anyone who hasn't accepted giving them at least a further 7 days to accept the offer. They can't withdraw the offer and allocate the place to someone else until they have done that.

Our LA are doing a second round this week. First offer date was 23 April and closing date for accepting places was 10 May. So effectively a month between first and second round. I'm in similar position to you and sat waiting for the phone to ring...

if he wasn't first on list I would just get on with it. Hoping you get news you want flower7

I wouldn't get uniform this soon, anyway. At this age children can grow so much over the summer that if you buy it now, the trousers will be flapping round his calf muscles by September.

Hope you get the school you want.

yes you are right, just me trying to be organised, doesn't happen very often
