We are about to move to the area from Wales - obviously we will go and look around, but it would really help to hear any opinions first. I don't really set much store by Ofsted reports!

Charlton Kings Infants has the reputation of being quite pushy and academic, Glenfall of being more laid back. Depends what you want for your child, really. Charlton Kings is large, 3 form entry, and not particularly flexible but lots of children to make friends with. Glenfall only one form entry and more inclusive, more mixed intake.

None of my DC went to either school, but I know lots who go to both. Most are really happy with their choice, so no big deal really, either will be fine.

Brill, thanks! Stressful moving to a new area, isn't it?!

It's a lovely place to live. I've been here 20 odd years now, never regretted it. And you are on the doorstep of a good secondary, as well.

I know children at both. As EllenJane says, CK is very big, and very popular. It's academic and the pastoral care is good, although a couple of friends have said their child seemed overwhemed by it. Generally, though, people are really positive about it. Having said that, you'll be lucky to get a place. Glenfall doesn't have such a good reputation academically but there's usually space there. A couple of the village schools are within a 10 minute drive of CK - Coberley is just up the road and has a very good reputation, and Withington is also really lovely (although maybe too small). Good idea to move into Balcarras catchment though, for secondary.

This is really helpful, thanks. Hadn't thought ahead to secondary - eek!! Can't imagine the kids that old...
