I am currently on notice of redundancy and have an opportunity (hopefully) to move. My husband currently works the same distance from where we live to where we want to go and and we would be closer moving to my family. However, my little boy starts school in Sept and I dont find out about whether I will get a job in Notts or Hull until late July.

If all goes ahead, we will get the house on the market asap and sell reasonably to get a quick sale. We have also thought about renting in the same village as my sister. However, when sold and ready to buy, we worry we will not be able to buy in the catchment.

I was so organised with schooling and places and feel I have to sit and wait. My little boy is sensitive and I worry moving him when he has already started will not be ideal. I am sure kids adjust but they are only little and I remember what a whimp I was :-)

Any advise much appreciated.

Being in catchmentt in Notts won't guarantee you a place at the catchment school. Admissions have been allocated here so I would call the LA when you have a moment and see if there are actually any places at the school you like here. It may be that you won't have a choice at all and would be on a waiting list. Use this time to find out what the situation is down on the ground, that's my tip!

Thanks, called today and thankfully they save places for movers :-)
